If you want budget travel tips or ways to save money when traveling, you're at the right spot. I like deals, especially while traveling.

Budget travel increases access. Spending less on one vacation allows for another. Budget travel is fun. Europe is among the world's cheapest travel locations. There are various ways to save money when traveling, from calculating your budget to camping and car-sharing (e.g. meals).

You can save money even on expensive trips. There are cheap things to do in Vienna and free things to do in London. Australia and New Zealand have travel hacks.

This essay offers budget travel tips. This page offers travel suggestions, money-saving advice, budget travel tips, free things to do, and affordable places to visit.

Here are some budget travel tips:

Choose wisely

Your region isn't the most costly. First, find affordable travel places. It may be inexpensive and easy to go there, have a good exchange rate, or have lower living costs than at home.

Avoid tourist traps.

Cities and tourist destinations are usually more costly. Choose less-crowded spots. Europe's hidden beauty. At your destination, select a sidewalk restaurant. Better, cheaper food is possible.

Reiseversicherung.

Cheapest travel tip! You'll be pleased you paid extra if your trip is cancelled or you become sick abroad.

Off-season.

Your destination will be less busy, but you can't guarantee the weather. You'll save money and keep it.

Pre-book.

It's often cheaper (and less stressful) to book in advance than to wait for last-minute deals.

Be spontaneous in less-touristy regions.

In small towns or homestays, booking straight might save money. Destination matters.

Sky scanner finds inexpensive flights.

Skyscanner.net compares international flights. Choose your home airport/country and destination to see daily or monthly options.

Midweek flights.

Weekends are busier, thus flights cost more. Ideally, fly Tuesday-Thursday.

Pack.

Don't overpack. You won't wear half the clothes you pack, causing additional baggage fees. Make sure you have everything you need before your budget vacation. A lost item overseas may be pricey.

Share.

You'll save money if you're prepared to share a dorm bathroom.

Visit.

Overnight trips are inexpensive. Nighttime travel lowers accommodation expenditures compared to daytime travel. You don't'spend time' travelling, so you may explore!

Consider Bla Bla Car.

bla Budget travellers can save with car and other services. People who are driving anyhow announce spots you can pay for. Public transportation is cheaper. If you have spare room on a road trip, you may earn gas money.

Read about other backpackers.

Plan by searching "backpacker's guide..." You'll find fees, lodgings, and activities for a budget vacation in your destination.

Look for free events around you.

Find free activities when traveling on a budget. Some museums are free or include local events. Free walking tours are great for exploring a new city. Finally, tip.

Local SIM card.

International roaming or WiFi might be pricey. Traveling using a local SIM card and locally priced data packages may save money. Navigation and calls require data. Easy in the Philippines and Albania.

DIY trips

Planning your own trip saves money. Take public transportation, pack a picnic, and buy your own ticket (if needed). An example is a self-guided trip to Australia's Blue Mountains. My return rail ticket was 12 AUD, but group trips cost at least 100 AUD. On the way, I bought coffee and lunch. Here's my Blue Mountains trip.

Eat in less.

Save money by shopping and cooking at home. Try local delights, but make your own food. Most hostels share kitchens. Travelers may have leftovers.

Avoid ATM costs.

ATMs charge fees for withdrawals and exchanges. Getting cash on vacation is cheaper than exchanging it before you go. Lose as much as possible to avoid fees. Withdraw more, pay less, but lose/steal more. Spread out your cash and leave some at your hotel.

Haggle.

Tourist prices are exaggerated, so haggle to save money. This is more likely if you travel with a group or make friends and book the same trip.

Ask a native.

Locals don't pay tourist prices for food, drink, and activities. Ask a local (at the hostel) about their favorite attractions. No worries.

Bring water and coffee.

Reusables are now my standard. Fill your own water bottle at fountains, cafes, or mountain springs for free. Bring your own coffee cup for a discount.

Everyone walks.

Walking is the best and cheapest way to travel. If you need to go further, rent a bike. Cycling and walking are great holiday activities; Buses are cheaper than trains. Avoid Taxis and Ubers on a budget. With sufficient planning, bus or train can be cheaper.

 Don't overspend.

Traveling cheaply is easy. Every place offers free things to do, so lower your expectations for expensive activities and dining out. Overspending will induce stress on your trip or when you return home.
